Imus Speaks to Cavuto About Obama, Biden, and McCain
Neil Cavuto interviews Don Imus on August 26, 2008. Imus says he’ll vote for McCain but he won’t commit suicide or move to Canada if Obama wins.
He thinks Barack Obama is a phony and an empty suit and so do I. Because, you see, he was not willing to give Imus the benefit of any doubt and was one of the very first of the self-righteous to jump up and to call for Imus to be fired. He was not willing to take anything into the context of his life and the good works he had done, but YET he wanted us all to consider Jeremiah Wright’s words in the context of his life and works.
Nor was he willing or able to realize that this was a job and a profession of 30 plus years in broadcasting and that Imus had a contract signed with CBS only a few months prior to the “incident” that specifically called for him to be outrageous and controversial. Yet Mr. Obama wants us to consider the “genius” of his buddy, Ludacris, in the context of his career and talent even though Ludicris has written and has said some outrageous and offensive things.
So, therefore, I judged Barack Obama as having no character or insight, no sense of fair play. And, yes, a phony and an empty suit.
In spite of that Imus also expresses his feelings at the spectacular sight of an African American woman standing before the Democratic National Convention, and the country, to speak about her husband who is about to be nominated by the democratic party as a candidate for President. I, too, am in awe of this and it was a touching moment to be sure.
I am very proud of the progress we have made as a country. It is a historical moment and time. Only in America.
And, by the way, I am voting for McCain, too.

You miss the obvious difference. Obama judged Imus, rightly or wrongly, on Imus’ words. You judge Obama on the basis of Jeremiah Wright’s words. And Father Pfleger’s words. And the words of anybody who Obama ever bumped into.
If you heard Hillary’s speech tonight, the message is crystal clear:
“I want you to ask yourselves: Were you in this campaign just for me? Or were you in it for that young Marine and others like him? Were you in it for that mom struggling with cancer while raising her kids? Were you in it for that young boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage? Were you in it for all the people in this country who feel invisible?”
Were you in this, of all people, for Imus?
Or were you in ot for your own selfish reasons?
Your call.
Obama over-reacted in calling for the man’s job. That is just a fact. His judgment and sense of fairness is flawed.

And you see, I don’t have to explain to you or anyone else why I choose to vote or not to vote for a candidate. It can be for a selfish reason or not. It can be because he’s too tall or because he had mentors like Jeremiah Wright and Pfleger for a very long period of time or because he called for Imus to be fired or because he has two black children. Isn’t this just an amazing country?
I take into consideration Mr. Obama’s character or lack thereof and his experience and lack thereof, his judgment or lack thereof, or his backbone and courage or lack thereof. And, yes, the way he dealt with the Imus situation has a lot to do with my assessment of Mr. Obama. It showed he didn’t know what he was talking about, number one; and number two, he could have actually been a leader and helped to quell the media storm and uncalled for fury that was going on.
Plus since that time I have spent many hours searching and researching his life and experience and found many, many reasons why he is not a man who deserves to lead this country. Had it not been for the Imus situation, I may not have paid such close attention.
What was done to Imus was just wrong on so many levels and I did take notice of each and every person who had a part in it.
People should be careful when calling for others to lose their jobs.
There is one thing — some of you Obama followers have not done him any favors this summer by coming on the internet talking down to and insulting those who may have been swayed if a more diplomatic approach had been taken.
This is an excellent Post Bella, you laid it out very well.
It is a free country, people can vote for whoever they want, for whatever reason they want, you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone. It really is nobody’s business.
Great Post Bella
Advice dawq, asking for a person’s vote is way more effective then demanding it.
Diogenes,
I find your logic fallacious. IMO Bella is not “judging” Obama based on what Rev. Wright or Don Imus or anyone else said; she is comparing Obama’s different reactions to offensive utterings which appear to be based on who did the uttering.
One would hope that in the course of all this Mr. Obama has learned to be more prudent in his own judgments, particularly should he be elected.
Thank you, mtnherbal. That is exactly what I was trying to say.
Bella,
You know Imus really doesn’t do interviews. I am so glad he is entering the discussion. Imus was at the beginning of all this, the first casualty of the primary season. They were talking about why his comments on Cavuto got so much attention. They were called controversial.
He said, no there not…then Imus, Bernie and all, decided it must be because it was a slow news day. I don’t think so. It speaks to the heart of this political season it has been a particularly dirty one. Anyone paying attention, remembers how it got kicked off.
Laree, I love it when I hear him speak out. It was typical Imus, taking everybody out.
LMAO Yeah, you’re right. Vote based on a radio DJ (who I happen to enjoy, or did when I could get him on a radio).
God Bless America!
Beat ‘em like a dog, right dawg?

Let’s see, Don Imus doesn’t like someone. Well that settles it. I will vote for that guy. BTW Imus has called Hillary SATAN for years. McCain dumps a crippled wife for Botox Barbie, now has his eyes on Pitbull Palin
That was nasty.
